Wardrobe Essentials

Over the years, we’ve come to the conclusion that striving for slow, rich, meaningful days is so much better than striving to achieve perfection. With so many distractions pulling us in every direction, it’s hard to slow down and simplify. But when we make a decision to get rid of the clutter, implement life-giving routines, and begin to simplify our day-to-day life, we are much better for the people around us. While we whole-heartedly believe in the importance of living a simplified life, we’re also not blind to the fact that simplifying can be so. hard. Especially when you’ve stretched yourself too thin for too long and are trying to get back to the good stuff in life— the things that truly matter. So every month for the rest of the year, we’ll be focusing on simplifying one specific area in our lives. We’ll cover a different topic each month— from style to finances to meal planning, and everything in between. Every Monday on the blog, we’ll be answering a different question on each month’s topic from women in all different stages of life.

This month, we’re focusing on simplifying our style, and today the girls on our team are spilling all the secrets on our favorite wardrobe pieces. When you’re simplifying your closet, it’s so important to have a few staple pieces that work for you and your lifestyle. Things that you can wear over and over again and feel put together, comfortable, and ready to take on the day. Here are our three favorite pieces in our wardrobe right now:

“I love Banana Republic’s skinny jeansJ.Crew’s fitted V neck tee, and the New Balance for J.Crew navy leggings (they have pockets!). I wear each of these pieces more often than I’m willing to admit!” – Emily, Creative Director

“My black Hunter boots (great for these Chicago winters!), a pair of b(air) Denim Ankle Skinny 7 jeans, and the softest gray cowl neck loungewear set (from Sam’s club, of all places!)” –Brittany, Director of Sales and Operations

“My high rise flare jeans because they are SO flattering, my Sam Edelman Penny boots that I wear almost every single day, and my Lilly Pulitzer printed popover (that I have in a few colors!) because it’s cozy and adds some much-needed color to my wardrobe!” –Whitney, Senior Designer

“1) My Ann Taylor Loft fitted jeans, because I can dress them up with some fancy shoes, or roll them at the bottom with flats for a more casual (me everyday) look. 2) I have a black flowy top, also from Loft, that I pair with a different color solid tank under to layer. 3) My Dad gave me a Lucky Brand 3/4″ sleeve that he bought and realized it was a woman’s shirt! I love it! It’s my most favorite out of everything, and it makes me giggle imagining him wearing it!” –Dusty, Project Manager

“1) My Tory Burch Caroline Flats – they go with everything and they’re super comfy!  2) White Denim – can’t go wrong with a classic pair of white jeans! Perfect for that casual, coastal look.  3) GiGi NY tory tote! I seriously use this bag for everything (big enough for working gals, college ladies, and mama bears!) and the color is easy to pair with most outfits. Lots to love about this bag but it was the gold monogram that won me over!”  – McKenzie, Director of Community Development

“1)  Lululemon’s High Time Pant – It’s no doubt that leggings are pure comfort & just plain practical for me at this stage of life. Whether working out, running to the grocery store or playing at the park with my one-year old, these are my most worn item right now.   2) AG Jeans – When I’m not in leggings, then I grab these jeans every time. They stretch without losing their shape and don’t ride down. My favorite is the Farrah! 3) BR Modal Tee – I’m a jeans & tee kind of girl – and these tees are one of my favorite. The material makes them a little fancier than a normal cotton tee, while still being practical and stylish.” – Gina, Director of Marketing

“I’m constantly reaching for my Lilly Pulitzer popovers (because they’re comfy and just the right weight for our Florida “winters”), my white denim jeans from LOFT, and my J.Crew D’Orsay flats (they quickly make just about any outfit look put together!).” -Hannah, Director of Content and Brand Partnerships
