Hi, Im Jacquelyn! I’m an interior designer by day, with a specialty in luxury residential design, and I blog by night. My blog has quickly become a passion project over the years. It’s where I share the ins and outs of the industry, and bits and pieces of my “behind-the-scenes” life.

How do you take care of yourself so that you’re physically and mentally prepared to be your best self for your loved ones?

I’m a Libra and, whether or not it has to do with my astrological sign, balance feels more imperative to be than it does to most of my friends and family. I legitimately get physically ill when things have been out of whack for too long. It’s something I struggle with constantly, but know for certain that if I don’t take care of myself I can’t take care of my loved ones. Putting myself first is difficult, and something I’m constantly working towards, but I find that scheduling time for myself – as in physically putting it in my planner and treating it like a meeting – to go for a run, to take a hot bath, or read a book in bed has been hugely beneficial.

What’s your favorite beauty secret?

Have you ever tried Palmer’s cocoa butter chapstick? It’s not revolutionary, and it shouldn’t cost more than $6 at your local drugstore, but once you try it you’ll never go back.

What’s your favorite outfit for a quick, polished look?

I tend to be fairly casual day to day, but there’s something about a tailored pant that instantly makes me feel pulled together, even if I’m pairing it with a wool turtleneck. I picked up the Jarvisine Pant from club monaco earlier this summer, and it’s pretty much become my meeting uniform.

Whats your favorite quick-prep dinner for your family?

Soup! We make a whole lot of it around here… I love it because it’s healthy, hearty, easily (as in throw everything in a pot and walk away type easy) and it’s a great way to clean out your fridge ;)

Tell us your favorite Instagram account to follow, and why?

@CouldIhaveThat. Samantha has been a huge inspiration to me for as long as I can remember. Her outfits are elegant yet approachable, her travel diaries always give me a serious case of wanderlust, and her photography is on point. It doesn’t hurt that she’s incredibly sweet and has earned every bit of her success.

What tradition or routine is important to you?

I am a serious advocate of Holiday traditions. There are so many that we follow year after year, but my favourite is our family baking day. We all get together and spend our entire day up to our ears in flour and icing sugar. At the end of the day we’re left with hundreds of homemade holiday cookies and baked goods that we divvy up. We then each have enough to get us through the season, to wrap up as gifts or ingest as we see fit.

What’s in your purse?

My wallet, my planner, my phone and my chapstick. I just realized that’s incredibly boring, but if there’s one thing I can’t stand it’s clutter!

Where do you find your inspiration?

Travel! It’s been minimal this year and I feel it in my soul. It fuels me in ways that I can’t describe

We know you’re a busy lady! How do you balance all of your work responsibilities along with your home and personal life? Any tips for our readers?

It’s a constant struggle but one that I’m actively working towards at all times. My planner is legitimately a godsend. I switched from my iPhone’s calendar to a paper planner back in August, and being able to see my entire week in front of me has been a huge help. I’m a visual person and it allows me to really schedule the day to day necessities, and to recognize when I’m on the brink of overdoing it.

What’s your favorite app (or other tool!) for helping you do life?

My simplified planner! Not even joking – and nobody’s forcing me to say that ;) It has been night and day when it comes to scheduling, and keeping my life in balance.
