Inspiration + the awful before shot!

For months, Bryan and I have been dreaming about, planning, researching and drooling over our ideas for our new kitchen. Our house was built in 1991 and we’ve done a LOT to bring it up to date. We love that its a home now but the kitchen was the one room we knew would have to be gutted and completely redone one day.

Well, ITS ONE DAY! : ) We found a wonderful contractor, chose cabinets, scoured the granite yard for the perfect slab, chose from a billion knobs and pulls to find just the ones we loved and yesterday, our ugly oak, outdated cabinets were torn down. Even better, our (TERRIBLE) chocolate brown wall was painted my favorite shade of gray (conservative gray from Sherwin Williams — also the color of my office).

Brady and I are in Pensacola while the house is torn up (new brick pavers are being installed on our patio as well as pebble ted in our pool at the same time!) and can’t wait to go back next week to see a shiny new house (and open white kitchen!)

And… just for comparison. Here is an awful iPhone before shot. I’m embarrassed that we EVER chose that wall color whatwerewethinking???!  And above is our inspiration board! We showed this to our contractor and he must have thought we were crazy OCD. I had to quickly explain that I’m a designer and totally visual. Bryan just shook his head and laughed : )

Here’s the before (I so did not want to put this on my blog!!!!)… stay tuned for the after!! (I’m pretty sure every dramatic transformation begins with a terrible dark wall)…

Also… Bryan REFUSES to send me any photos or even FaceTime in the same room. He says he wants me to come into the house next week with my hands over my eyes and have a total HGTV experience. : )

Emily
