“What helps you feel like your best self? What makes you feel like someone who’s ready to go out into the world and conquer the day? Maybe it’s the feeling you get when you’ve just been to the salon and gotten a trim and some gorgeous color and a blowout. Maybe you’re ready to face the day after a good workout where you move your body at the beginning of the day, or after you get a cute pedicure, or when you put on those shoes or these earrings or that jacket.” – Emily Ley
“There are lots of things that put a little pep in our step. None of them are super necessary for survival (except maybe that whole exercise thing), but we sure do enjoy them, don’t we? I love all of these things, and I’ll tell you what else: I love the polished look a little makeup can give me, too.” – Emily Ley
“We all know beauty is subjective. And please know that what I’m telling you today is not a prescription. I’m not saying, This is what you have to do in order to be beautiful, or be accepted, or be seen. This is just how I enjoy showing up in the world sometimes, because it makes me feel good.” – Emily LeyA Blessing for Your Week
I hope you know that you are already enough just as you are.
I hope that instead of hiding, you feel comfortable to share yourself with others, whatever that looks like for you.
And above all, I hope you celebrate the worthy, wonderful, beautiful person you are created to be.Simplicity Tip of the Week
When's the last time you cleaned your makeup brushes? If your brain just drew a huge blank, then congratulations. I'm in the same boat as you. There are all kinds of cleansers made specifically for your brushes. But if you're in a pinch, you can use some gentle dish soap to help you get the job done. A lot of makeup artists recommend Mrs. Myers. So here's what you do. Turn the faucet to lukewarm and gently work the water through the bristles at a drop of cleanser to your palm, then swirl the bristles into it, rinse the brushes, gently wring out the moisture, and lay them flat to dry with the bristles hanging off the edge of the counter so they don't get mildewy. And try to clean your brushes twice a month.New Book Alert: Build a Life You Love!
