Books: Grace Not Perfection

Emily holding open Grace Not Perfection

Grace Not Perfection Embracing Simplicity, Celebrating Joy

As a busy wife, new mother, business owner, and designer, Emily Ley came to a point when she suddenly realized she couldn’t do it all. She needed to simplify her life, organize her days, and prioritize the priorities. She decided to hold herself to a standard of grace rather than perfection. This mantra led to the creation of her bestselling Simplified Planner®, a favorite among busy women everywhere—from mamas to executives and everywhere in between.

Grace, Not Perfection takes this message from a daily planner to an inspirational book that encourages women to simplify and prioritize. Designed with Emily Ley’s signature aesthetic, this book gives women tangible ways to simplify their lives to give space to what matters most. With a focus on faith, Emily reminds readers that God abundantly pours out grace on us—and that surely we can extend grace to ourselves.

Have you been told you can have it all, only to end up exhausted and occasionally out of sorts with the people you love? Are you ready for a new way of seeing your time? Learn to live a little more simply. Hold yourself and those you love to a more life-giving standard in Grace Not Perfection, and allow that grace to seep into your days, your family, and your heart.

An excerpt

Without realizing it, many of us have decided to let the world tell us what the “good life” looks like. The perfectly constructed, magazine-worthy life does not equal happiness. Happiness isn’t found in the prettiest Instagram feed or in a large number of Facebook friends. True joy isn’t found in having it all together. The good life is rich, slow, real and flawed. Forget what the world is telling you. You don’t have to constantly strive to be more. You are enough. You deserve silly, extravagant joy, belly laughs, and rich memories worthy of being slowly retold in rocking chairs on front porches. This is attainable, where you are, as you are, with what you have right now.

I love Emily Ley and her thoughts on life, organization, and planning. This is one of those books that I read and just felt happy. I felt like a good friend was telling a story and providing tips, and making life seem a little easier, which we can all appreciate! As a mom of two, working full time, and always feeling like I should be doing more, I ended the book with so much gratitude that there are women and moms like Emily who feel all of this and let us know that it’s ok not to be perfect.

This book is amazing. Everone who struggles with feeling like they have too much to do or never can do "enough" needs to read this book. Ley offers great advice and charming anecdotes all with the truth of God's love woven through it.
