Rhonda Jenkins

Hi! I’m Rhonda! I love dance parties and selfies, and I don’t apologize for it! (I also love exclamation marks!!!) As a blogger and event planner in Dallas, TX, you’ll often find me brainstorming my next theme party, scheduling a coffee date, or eating brunch at one of my favorite Dallas spots with blogger babes at my monthly event, Dallas Blogger Brunch! I believe in looking at the positive and always having fun no matter what my circumstances. Confetti is my love language ;)

How do you take care of yourself so that you’re physically and mentally prepared to be your best self for your loved ones? This is so important! I know that if I don’t take care of myself, I have a tendency to get “hangry and sassy”. To avoid both of those things, I start my mornings with a challenging workout class 5-6 times per week (spin, pilates, and circuit training are my faves!) followed by quiet time spent in prayer and journaling.

What’s your favorite beauty secret? SLEEP! However, if I can’t get enough sleep, I try to brighten up my face the next morning with red lips (and maybe sunglasses, if needed).

What’s your favorite outfit for a quick, polished look? I love wearing dresses because they are one piece (so easy!) For fall: a dress + boots + a leather jacket is my new go-to!

Whats your favorite quick-prep dinner for your family? I wish I had time to cook every single night, but I rely on a few shortcuts to get me through the week! My favorite easy meal is baking a pre-marinated chicken breast from Central Market and sautéing pre-sliced zucchini and squash; many dinner guests have been impressed by this meal! ;)

Tell us your favorite Instagram account to follow, and why? Given my love of parties, it’s no surprise that San Francisco-based party planner, Jordan Ferney, is one of my favorites! I have followed her account, @ohhappyday, for years…even before she upgraded from her “.blogspot” web address! If you love balloons and streamers, you need to follow her.

What tradition or routine is important to you? Probably my morning quiet time. As a believer, spending daily time with the Lord is what keeps me grounded and ready to face the day! Monday night sand volleyball is also one of my favorite traditions that I have been doing for 6+ years now!

What’s in your purse? Hmm a lot of things… most notably: 5 different lip glosses/lipsticks and always a protein bar (haha)

Where do you find your inspiration? My brain needs space to be creative, so I often have my best ideas when I can empty all of the other thoughts in my head, which usually happens when I’m outside enjoying nature! I love to visit White Rock Lake in Dallas to enjoy peace and quiet and let my ideas run wild!

We know you’re a busy lady! How do you balance all of your work responsibilities along with your home and personal life? Any tips for our readers? Of course, I’m a huge planner, love lists, and schedule every activity in my life! At some point, though, even if I have a ton of work to do, I have to give myself grace and take a break to do something that is relaxing for me; whether that is going for a walk, getting dinner with a friend, or even taking a nap, stepping away from work for a bit is imperative to maintaining balance in my life. I also recommending one night of rest at home per week; set one night each week to stay home and relax with some “me time.”

What’s your favorite app (or other tool!) for helping you do life? I try to keep my phone apps to a minimum, but my Reminders app is a huge help in setting simple reminders rather than clogging my calendar with alerts. I use my phone calendar for appointments and my blog content calendar, but I use my  Daily Simplified Planner to keep running to-do lists from day to day along with planning time blocks in my work day. I live by my planner and always say “let me check my schedule” before committing to any activity. ;)
