I’m the in the founder and curator behind the blog and shop, Waiting on Martha. I’ve always loved fashion and home and after I graduated from college I really got into cooking and baking. I decided to start Waiting On Martha after having what was just a really tough year. I had planned a wedding and got married, which was phenomenal, but also my father-in-law died six weeks before the wedding and my Dad had just found out he had cancer.  I am an only child and am really close with my parents. I had just kind of gotten to the point where my “passion bucket” was empty. It was like “Well, what am I waiting for?” I’ve always wanted to do something with what I love. It was simple taking those first steps to create Waiting on Martha…I just kind of leaped in. It has really reignited my “passion bucket” (if you will) and brought a lot of joy back into my life. It has also really nailed home the idea of how important it is to do what you love. Waiting On Martha The Shop carries a variety of items from home décor, to accessories to DIY party planning—including Emily Ley goodies.

NIKE FUEL BAND:  With working so much working out is one of the many things that seems to get pushed to the bottom of the list…everyday.  The Nike Fuel Band however helps me at least stay mindful of how active I’m being throughout my day.  And what I really love about it is opposed to a standard pedometer the Fuel Band calculates both steps and fuel (fuel being calculated by your heart rate increasing or any physical strain).  This is so perfect because often you’re working hard, being active, but it might not necessarily be cardio and the fuel band takes both things into account.  And being me (competitive, type A, etc.) I love seeing that I reached my “goal” each day.

COMBO OF YSL ROUGE #49 + STILA WATERMELON LIP GLAZE:  I couldn’t live without lip gloss.  It’s by far my biggest beauty addiction and currently my go to color is a bright, bright pink combo of YSL’s rouge #49 and Stila’s watermelon glaze.  This neon pink, and is my red as far as a bold lip goes.  Sad news is I just found out they’ve discontinued #49…needless to say I’m calling every store and buying them out of whatever they have in stock.

INSTAGRAM:  Instagram is a borderline addiction for me.  I mean the amount of time I spend choosing just the right filter is ridiculous.  But I love it, like seriously love it.  Not only is it the easiest social media sharing app out there, but it’s also the most beautiful.  And as we all know I have an affinity for the beautiful things in life.  And I love the idea of sharing snippets of my day, my adventures through pictures, and seeing others lives through their own rose colored glasses.

THE MIGHTY PURSE:  Genius, life changing, and perfect tech device…the mighty purse.  The Mighty Purse is a fabulous little wristlet that charges your phone.  Any phone…iPhone, blackberry, android, smart phone, not to mention your iPad, kindle, pretty much any electronic device you can’t seem to live without.  This make everyday easier, not to mention travel so much easier.

D’TOX ATLANTA + HUROM JUICER: I’m a vegetarian so I’m always mindful about getting enough protein and nutrients on a daily basis and one of the main ways I do that is juicing.  The Hurom Slow Juicer is by far the best juicer I’ve ever owned (and I’ve owned a lot).  It juices just about everything, including wheat grass, which tastes awful but makes you feel wonderful.  However, when I’m on the go, or don’t have the time to juice at home I stop at D’Tox in Atlanta.  My typical order goes something like this…large green smoothie, shot of aloe vera, shot of E3, shot of wheat grass, beet/carrot/ginger juice for a mid afternoon snack.

THE MR.: This is about what makes my day to day easier, and I’d be amiss if I didn’t mention my husband Anthony.  Not only does he help with WOM on a daily basis (shipping, packaging, vendor issues) he is truly my partner in life, and that has never been more evident than in this last year.  With starting my own business and preparing to take the leap of faith to full time entrepreneur, he pushes me everyday and does everything in his power to help make my dreams happen.  Younger generation take note…marry someone who brings out the best version of you.
