4 Ways to Get Your Planner Ready for August 1st
July 28, 2016
August 1st is almost here! We’re thrilled for so many of you to start using your new Simplified Planners as a tool to simplify your life and make time for what matters most. We hope your planner helps you to carve out white space and plan for the days, weeks, and months ahead of you. But remember, planners won’t work if you don’t use them! Sit down at the beginning of each week and plan for the days ahead. Use your planner daily to make sure you stay on task. In the meantime, here are a few things you can do to get your planner ready for August 1st.
- Add Birthdays + Anniversaries: Go through the entire year, and write down your family and friends’ birthdays and anniversaries on the appropriate day.
- Write Down Reminders: Once you have birthdays and anniversaries written down, add in reminders before important days. For instance, two weeks before your dad’s birthday, you might write, “buy dad’s birthday gift,” or at the end of July, you might write, “buy school supplies.” Writing these things down ahead of time will help make sure you stay on top of all those little tasks, and you’ll never forget to prepare for any important dates.
- Schedule in Important Dates: Speaking of important dates, write them down ahead of time, too! Go through the entire school year and mark days off. Schedule your annual doctor’s appointment and write it down in your planner. Make sure you have days blocked off for a summer vacation. We love the saying, “Failing to prepare is preparing to fail.” Prepare for your year ahead of time so that you can spend your time well.
- Make Time + Get Messy: Don’t forget to leave some time empty in your planner, so you can enjoy the little things that really matter. Be comfortable with white space. Remember all those things you WISH you had done last year, and make time for them! Read books. Go on adventures. Take naps. Bake cookies just because. Figure out what’s important to you, and make time for it. Use your planner to help you, and don’t be afraid to get it messy. Scratch things out, scribble notes, and cherish it. Don’t fill it up.
